Every Wednesday morning, my pastor and I meet at Chick-Fil-A at Wolfchase, where we’re always warmly welcomed by our friend Tim, along with all of the other awesome employees. Some of Tim’s responsibilities are keeping the dining area clean and neat, and stocking the condiment stand. For the year and a half that I’ve known him, week by week, Tim is always smiling and always has something positive to talk about. He is a proud husband, loving father, and devout Christian. One day, I asked Tim what I could pray for him about. Without hesitation, he answered that he’d been praying lately for his personal work to be noticed, and for his dedicated efforts to bring glory to God. Before I even started praying for this, it struck a chord in my heart. A mixture of emotions washed around, including humility, gratitude, and inspiration. Out of all of these emotions the greatest was inspiration. Tim could be just like so many others we encounter every day at their work places: apathetic, unhappy, and appearing to have better stuff to do than have to deal with you. How about the service guy you have trustingly invited into your home, your family’s safe haven, who shows up and greets you with a bad attitude, high pressure sales tactics. The man who would obviously rather not have to go out of his way to meet your needs? Tim is grateful for his customers. Although we’ve become friends, he greets us each time as if we are family and always has. Tim takes pride in his work all because he wants to reflect God in all of his ways.
